Monkey Bash

Submission for the BIGMODE Game Jam 2025

THE STORY
A team of baddies have stolen your bananas and locked them away inside blocks. It's up to a monkey with a powerful seismic slam ability to get them all back, and seek out revenge on the thieves.
Complete each level by obtaining all the bananas and removing the bad guys from existence. You can't touch them unless they have been flipped upside down using your seismic slam, allowing you to boot them into the unknown. But be careful, they can get up if you're not fast enough!

CONTROLS
arrow keys - move left and right, up to grab a vine, up/down to climb vine
z - Seismic Slam. Quakes 3 blocks from your position. Special blocks that are hit will activate, and enemies hit by the shock will be flipped upside down, allowing you to kick them. Also used to jump off a vine.
enter - to start the game, or reset the game once you've reached the end screen

Should work with a  controller, but I honestly haven't tested, sorry!

BLOCKS
There are various blocks around the world.
Banana: You need to collect all these in order to beat a level
Grass: These are oneway platforms. You can jump up through them.
Spring: While on-top of a spring block, slamming it will cause you to spring into the air.
Skull: Skull blocks eat your seismic slam and will kill you if you touch them
Rock: When hit with your slam, rocks will shatter. It takes two hits before they disappear. Be wary of your placement when slamming!

Due to massive time constraints, I wasn't able to get a whole lot done. There are only 3 levels, but if people like it, I may continue with it after the jam has finished.
